Emirates has announced that, due to an increase in demand for more premium options when flying with the airline, travellers will now be able to purchase Premium Economy flights to four new additional cities.

Four new Premium Economy routes added

The airline announced that the new Premium Economy seats will be available on routes from Dubai to Amman, Bahrain, Mumbai, and Muscat. This follows a gradual rollout of more premium options that previously included key cities such as Hong Kong, London, New York, Paris, and Sydney.

Premium Economy flights to Amman and Mumbai will start from October 26. Premium Economy flights to Muscat will commence from October 30. While Premium Economy flights will start from Dubai to Bahrain from December 4. Planes used on the flights include Boeing 777, A350, and A380 aircraft. Emirates also announced that deployment of the new flights could be advanced sooner if the planes were refurbished quicker.

The airline’s Premium Economy cabin is now available on more than 635 flights each week across the Emirates’ global network. The company stated plans to boost the total number of available premium seats to two million by the end of the year. This would be up from the current number of premium seats, which amounts to 1.8 million.

Emirates’ aircraft retrofit programme

All of this is part of Emirates new retrofit programme. The multi-billion-dollar programme will see A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft refurbished. Currently, the airline is able to refurbish one aircraft every three weeks and 67 planes have been refurbished in total so far. The airline aims to refurbish up to 219 planes.

One of the largest airlines in the world, Emirates currently flies to over 133 destinations and more than 85 counties across the globe. Operating out of Dubai as its main hub, the airline reaches six continents and most major cities in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.
