
The General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMI) has recently released statistics and data showing that all airports in Turkey have successfully served 135 million passengers during the first seven months of 2025, on board domestic and international flights.
The recently released data shows that airports throughout Turkey have served a total of 134.9 million people from the months of January to July in 2025. Compared to the same months in 2024, this is an increase of 3.8%.
The data accounts for travellers flying on both domestic and international flights. 78.3 million passengers flew on international flights, an increase of 5.4% compared to the same period last year. 56.6 million people flew on domestic flights inside Turkey, which was an increase of 1.7% when compared to 2024.
Istanbul Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world, and by far the busiest airport in Turkey. Istanbul Airport handled 46.9 million passengers from January to July 2025, an increase of 2% compared to the same months in 2024. 37 million passengers were flying internationally, and 9.9 million passengers were flying domestically.
Sabiha Gocek Airport, located on Istanbul’s Asian side, handled 26.5 million passengers during the first seven months of 2025. This was an increase of 12% compared to data from 2024. 14.8 million passengers were flying internationally, while 11.6 million were flying to other cities in Turkey.
Other popular airports in Turkey included Antalya Airport, Bodrum Airport, and Dalaman Airport – collectively handling 32.8 million passengers from January to July. Of this, 22.1 million were international travellers visiting Turkey’s tourist hotspots, while 10.6 million were flying domestically.
Finally, the data shows that Turkey recorded 1.4 million total aircraft movements from January to July. 800,000 of the movements were recorded as domestic and international flights, while 300,000 movements were recorded as overflights. Other movements accounted for the rest.
